Aquamarine is the birthstone for the month of March. Named after a beautiful Latin phrase, "water of the sea", the gemstone is found in a number of shades of sea water which range from blue to aqua green. It is mostly found in lighter shades with darker shades being exceptions. Quite affordable when the color of the stone is light, however the ones that lie in the deeper shades are expensive because of their rarity. In the previous times the green aquamarines were considered more valuable, however today the deeper shades of blue are the more expensive version.
